Volunteer - It Does Make a Difference

Did you know that every year in the Tulsa metro area, over 12,000 dogs and cats are put to death, simply because no one wants them?  Some of these are strays, dumped by people who don't want them anymore.  Many are purebred animals, dumped or left at shelters by folks who wanted puppies or kittens, but won't take the responsibility to place them in good homes.  Still others are family pets, taken to shelters by people who don't want them anymore.

Although 12,000 die every year, the number of dead would be much higher if it were not for the efforts of individuals and organizations like  Animal Aid of Tulsa who rescue, treat and find good homes for thousands more unwanted pets.  There are many wonderful groups in Tulsa who work tirelessly to save what pets they can.

Animal Aid encourages you to help too.  They need any donations we can get -  money, office equipment, etc.  But even if you can't afford to donate money, you can give something we need even worse: volunteer your time!  Anything you can do will help.  Even if you can only volunteer once in awhile, you are making a difference!

A boy and his grandfather were walking along the beach.  The boy saw that hundreds of starfish had washed ashore and were stranded at the water's edge.  One by one, the boy was picking them up and tossing them back in the water.  After a time, his grandfather said, "Why are you doing that?  You can't possibly make a difference."  Holding up the starfish he had in his hand, the boy said, "It makes a difference to this one."
